Thanks everybody for coming out to our Salsa Lessons @ PSU. Again we worked on ‘On2′ with our Level 3 group. It is very important that you learn both styles as it can diversify your moves, strengthen your musicality, and will allow you to dance with many leaders or followers. For the On1 Enthusiasts, it only takes a little thought to convert it to On1 …. but the sequence is a little smoother On2. Enjoy!

If you haven’t yet found them while surfing our site, we would like to formally invite you to Our Weekly Salsa Lessons with ILS. Every week we will be posting a quick recap of what we taught at our weekly salsa lessons. This will include a brief guide to each move and then a demonstration. These videos are intended to give you a little quick fix of salsa for anyone wanting a new routine. If you were at these classes then this is a good time to practice and revisit what you learned. These videos will predominantly be at the intermediate (sometimes advanced) level. If you are looking for beginner moves check out our lessons page. A special thanks to all of our students during these weekly lessons. You guys rock!

Barbara, one of our instructors and camera-person extraordinaire, walked around and recorded an excerpt of each of our groups. In this video Katie, Ian (me!), George, and Malcolm are teaching various groups split up between levels of ability. BTW, they are also my band mates in AudioImagery.net. Yeah… we’re rockstars!

Published by Ian 2 years ago on September 17th, 2009Sonia Sotomayor the Supreme Court Justice of Salsa?

A couple days ago we got to see Justice Sotomayor have a little impromptu salsa on the dance floor. Led by Actor Esai Morales, the dance took place during an annual gala hosted by the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA). The event was titled Noche Musicál and held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC. Washington Life TV was there to capture the event.

Now this is something she can definitely do better than a white male supreme justice…. too soon?

This is an advanced move that requires a lot of practice and perfect timing to execute. It is advisable to lead the double turn a little early in order to set up for the copa. Please review our Double Turn video. Enjoy!
