THE RIGHT TURN is one of the most used turns in salsa. pay attention to the footwork and make sure to practice until it becomes second nature. a trouble spot often occurs between beats 1 and 2 when you step forward then pivot towards the back. don't fall into the habit of forgetting to pivot towards the back on 2. Enjoy!
The Back Basic is also known as Cumbia and is largely danced in Latin American countries but you will see it in the States too. While this is not the primary Basic for On1 salsa it is very useful for certain moves. Enjoy!
The side basic is often used for styling and for various intermediate/advanced moves. Make sure to spend the same amount of time on the side basic as you did with the regular basic. All the basics have their uses so be sure to master them. This beginners move is helpful in creating a strong foundation for salsa. As you learn new moves try to implement this basic where possible. Enjoy!
the regular basic is the building block of all salsa. pay attention to the counts especially the rests on 4 and 8. whether you are a beginner or advanced, the basic is fundamental.
