Alex da Silva Rape Charges Dropped

Published by Ian, 1 year ago in News Print This Post Print This Post

For those who don’t know, a few months ago Alex Da Silva, recurring guest choreographer for “So You Think You Can Dance?”, was arrested for suspicion of sexually assaulting 4 women. His bail was set at $3.8 million. Today his charges have been dropped. Unfortunately it seems that the accusations were a ploy to blackmail Alex into paying off a number of these women.

Alex is probably the most successful Salsa dancer in the industry today having taught and choreographed routines for movie stars as well as himself appearing in movies, television, and commercials. He holds titles in many international dancing competitions and has taught Salsa since the early 80s to some of the most well known competitive dancers in the world.

He is a major proponent of [intlink id="1284" type="post"]L.A. Style Salsa[/intlink] having competed for years in the Mayan World Salsa Competitions hosted at Club Mayan in Los Angeles.

Edie aka the Salsa Freak, interviewed Alex and got his story on the accusations, media coverage, and his tarnished name. Check it out here Alex Da Silva Charges Dropped

UPDATE: As of August 18th Alex da Silva has been arrested again and charged with sexual assault. His bail is set to $6.2 million this time around. You can read more about it from the LA Times Article. This update comes from Walter of BecomingASalsero -- check out his blog!
